The article summarizes 25 years of scientific and practical work at the Luria Research Center for Child Neuropsychology and highlights the significant scientific contribution of Doctor of Psychology, Professor J. M. Glozman. It discusses the selection criteria for specialists and the specifics of their training for practical work with children. It lists the categories of developmental difficulties that can be overcome using neuropsychological methods. It emphasizes the Center’s focus on integrating applied developments in Russian psychological science into the practice of neuropsychological diagnostics and the correction of developmental, behavioral, and learning disabilities in children. The article describes the history of the creation and content of neuropsychological albums for school- and preschool-aged children, the criteria for selecting stimulus materials, and the differences in assessment procedures for children of different age groups. It is noted that neuropsychological assessments should not be limited to assessing the development of higher mental functions. They must also consider the dynamics of modern life: children’s age-related characteristics, their changing perceptions and information processing methods, and changes in the social environment and social situation. Emphasis is placed on the need for a comprehensive approach to child development, which involves combining motor, cognitive, and play components in correctional work. Information is provided on a study conducted at the Center, which demonstrated the positive impact of play-based methods on a child’s academic performance and emotional well-being. The topic of educational work with parents is raised, carried out both through consultations and through scientific and practical publications that promote understanding of the characteristics of child development and upbringing. The need to implement a scientific approach to ensure the quality of the practical work of the Center’s specialists and its effective functioning is described.
